Works for me Wednesday - just below!
While on our little trip this past week end, we went to a nice family restaurant. We were seated next to the only other family with children. HMMM, was that intentional?!! Well, the family consisted of a Caucasian mom,African American dad, two bi-racial girls and a little boy that had red hair and whiter skin than me (if that is possible). The little boy was 3 yr. and he was entertainment for little man.
I commented on that fact and the family started talking to us.
Here comes the funny part. The mom said to him "see the baby". His reply was (keep in mind the family elements I described above) "that's not a baby, he's brown"!
I cannot describe to you in any adequate way, the expression on the dad's face. He was like - WHAAAAAT! I mean WHA! They turned as red a could be. We laughed until we had tears in our eyes. Mostly due to the expressions on the parents faces. His dad is "brown", his sisters are "brown" and he his also bi-racial, it doesn't look it, but he is. It's just that genetic thing I talked about here ( I won't say I told ya so)!
Well, maybe ya had to be there!
That is hilarious! I'm not surprised; kids that age think every baby is exactly like the baby they know--I was saying the other day that all my kids at that age would name their baby doll after the baby we were closest to at the time, whether it was family or a friend. Sort of like that stage where every animal with four legs is a "woof-woof".

I take Noah (who is black) to McDonald's regularly so he can play in the playplace and frankly, wear himself out. He won't play if there are no other kids. One day we were eating our lunch and the place was empty except for the two of us. Finally, a large black family came in - about 6-7 kids of different ages and a woman so I assume a family. Anyway, I said to Noah, "Go play with the kids." He said, "I can't play with them. They're chocolate kids." I just stared at him, and then said, "But, Noah, you're chocolate, too." He said, "Oh," jumped off my lap and ran off to play.

I LOVE IT!!! Oh if only ALL the world could see life through the eyes of a child. They don't care what color the person as soon as they hear it's ok.....

Funny how kids see things. He probably only see daddy as being brown. My son spends a lot of time with my friends daughter who is 5 months and we always refer to her as the baby "NO don't hit the baby" "give the baby a kiss" "the baby cant eat that"
SO this past weekend when we visited with another friend and her 5 month old who happened to a boy and look a lot different than "the baby" when I refered to him as the baby he look at me with the most confused look on his face!

Hey Faith! Sounds like you had a fun time! This story is hilarious. What highway did you take through NC? If you took 29 you were like 5 minutes from my house at one point! Have a good one!

So funny!

Too funny! Kids'll say the funniest things. I love that kids aren't bound by our "politically correct" rules. They just tell it like it is.
