Today is Treasure Tuesday! If you play along, thanks. I so enjoy getting to know all of you through these little treasures that have such sweet stories.
That is the treasure after all - the memories and stories that come to our hearts and minds when we see, hear, smell, touch or taste these treasures.
My treasure for today is the letters that my daddy and I sent to one another while he was in Vietnam.
The airmail envelope, with the red, white and blue is such a memory for me. when I saw the envelope, I knew it was from my Daddy!
All of my letters to him start like this : "Dear Daddy, How are you? Fine I hope.
As for myself, I am okay". They all start that way. I laughed and laughed when I read these for the first time as an adult - just after his death. I needed to laugh, so it was therapeutic.
He tells me to behave and mind my Mother and Granny - in all of his letters to me!
I also ask him if I can get my hair cut in almost every letter. He forbade me to cut my hair. It was waist length all of my life - until I got married.
I've never had short hair except when my Granny went against his wishes and gave me a pixie when I was 5 yrs. old. Yes, he was in Vietnam at the time. Hey, she did it, not me! I was just five!!!
The little Valentine card is one he sent to me from Vietnam as well.
It was such a God thing to have found this when I did.
He was buried on Valentines Day - and I found this that day!!!!! Inside he says : "I love you my daughter, Love Daddy".
He knew I'd love that little kitten on the front, although he despised cats!! LOL!
I hope you post a Treasure too. If so, let me know in comments and I will link back to you so others can see yours. I'll be at the studio working, so I'll link you as fast as I can, between clients!

Precious memories of your father's love. . .makes me regret how infrequently I put my love on paper for my kids these days.
Love the kitty valentine.
My treasure is up, too.

Darn Blogger, I had a heck of a time posting my Treasure Tuesday, but it's up now. :)
Faith, I loved yours! That's so neat that you have those letters! My dad was in Vietnam as well, but I was only a baby so I have no letters. I think my aunt wrote back and forth with him during that time, I'll have to ask her if she still has any tucked away.
I'm a bit oldfashioned about handwritten letters. I love to send them. Unfortunately, not many people respond in kind. My family and friends are more likely to shoot me an email than write me a letter. I do have a couple of friends that still treat me to real letters.
Thanks for sharing!

This makes me really regret that I throw everything away! If I don't, I'd become a packrat!!!
I think I'll start saving more cards from now on. It's amazing the importance and comfort they carry later on in years!

I love those letters! I have letters from my dad from when he was away at college and my mom and I were with my grandparents. Though my parents are not together anymore, they are sweet to read of his love for me. He always made sure we were/are taken care of.
I posted my Treasures!

I love this! I have the letters my dad wrote to my mother when he was in 'Nam. I don't know what happened to the ones she wrote to him. He wasn't a packrat like her, I suppose.
Great treasure! Thanks for sharing. That Valentine card nearly did me in.
