Another question we get is whether we will leave Six in Deaf school, which is a residential school.
That means- she sleeps there Monday through Thursday and is home on week-ends. And the answer is....
We don't know.
There is so much to learn about her, what her needs are, what will work best for her and overall. For now, I know the Deaf school has been great for her. She has had no one to communicate with at the foster home. So, she is in her element at the school.
Yes, it is very hard to imagine your child living somewhere else during the week, only seeing her on the week-ends. If it is best for her, we will do it though. We would prefer for her to be able to come and go daily, but not sure if that will be too hard on her and us.
I would love to have the opportunity to home school her for at least a year. That would allow us time to bond as a family, for her feel like she is a part of the family and time for us to focus on things she may need help on.
So, we will see.
Sounds like so far you have made the right decision. You have to take things slowly and see how it all progresses. Good luck and keep us updated!
