I have been asked to review a product that I was very excited about trying. It is the Phillips babycare monitor. This is a great product for me to review given the fact that i do indeed use several of them ..... at once. Does that make me crazy? well, I like to think it keeps me from being crazy. You can go back to some of the posts about my baby having seizures and you may understand why I want to hear him and see him while he is sleeping. If you still think I am crazy - well, okay, whatever.
Anyway, back to the review. This monitor is the first ever to use the DECT technology which offers a more secure, private connection. In other words ... your won't be listening to your neighbors phone calls over your baby's monitor or heaven forbid the other way around!!!
This little monitor is pretty handy. I love the fact that it tells you the temperature of the baby's room. That's important and I am always wondering if he is too hot or too cold or whatever, so now I know. I like the fact that I can talk to him from my hand held part of this set to soothe him ( or in my little grandson's case - tell him to lay back down). It's range is 900 feet, which is pretty impressive and it also plays music and has a little light for baby. I also like the warning system that lets you know that your connection is lost for some reason. Like I said it is very important that I be able to hear my little man during the night, in case of a seizure.
The only thing I
haven't discussed is price. I believe it retails for about $199.00. I think that's a little high for a monitor that isn't a video monitor as well. It is so important for me to be able to SEE my little man (not true for everyone though) I know I would need the video feature as well and i would pay more money for it too. That's just me. I have a video monitor that was quite pricey, but I feel like I am getting my money's worth out of it, given that I will use it for years. So if you don't need video and you will use it long term, i don't think the price is too bad.
You can read more about it here if you'd like.
